Wow!! I love the skull~! and at first I thought the gold leaf was mirrors... XP. Have you ever heard of Copiic markers? You're so good with water colors, I think you'd enjoy them. :)

maybe  i could think of something with copic :)

The only bad thing about copic markers is that they are so darn expensive. But I do love them because they save so much time (for me) for layering different colors, when before I'd have to wait for the watercolor to dry. Whatever you come up with I'm sure it will be just as delicate and whimsical as your other work. :)
